Guemar (or Guemmar) is a Saharan oasis in Algeria near the Tunisian border, in the Oued Souf area of the wilaya of El Oued (see map), about 20 km north of El Oued city. It includes a zaouia and a border post; the latter is notable for having been attacked by two Islamists who had fought in Afghanistan, Tayeb Messaoudi and Abderrahmane Dahane, on November 27, 1991, before the beginning of the Algerian Civil War proper.
